It’s been a little ambition of mine to ride my motorbike to Bergen. In some ways it’s a silly thing to want to do, but it’s something I knew would be very rewarding.

It was also an important job to eat the last bits of food that we had bought over the last few days but hadn’t managed to eat.

I can definitely say that the Monaka ice-cream was very nice. Even for breakfast 😂

Today started in Ålesund. Luckily I felt much better than yesterday, but still not tip top. However I was keen to make the most of my time here so I spent a little time doing a little ride around.

It was soon time to begin the roughly 250 mile ride to Bergen.

On the way to Ålesund I managed to catch every ferry on time. Today was the complete opposite 😂 I missed all but one by about a minute. D’oh!

I had a sandwich left from yesterday (that Rachel bought for me) and that was sustenance on the first ferry 😂

The rain clouds looked quite ominous in the distance.

And luckily the water felt smoother than it looked in the photo!

The ferries today were a lot quieter than on Sunday. I think they also run less frequently, so if you miss one you get punished 😂

Around 250 miles today. And while it was great being back on the bike, it felt a bit more of a slog compared to the other days. With a bit of proper sleep and food I’ll be back to top form.

Thanks for reading Day 11!

Since a main tunnel was closed in Bergen, I was redirected through the city centre when I arrived this evening. It was surreal to be on two wheels in a place I’ve only walked around before. I’ll have to add a photo (Hero cameras is flat at the moment) ☺️

Ice-cream for breakfast is a new one, no salt this time 😜
So lovely to be fulfilling a dream, even if you were slightly under par today.
Plenty of room to park on the ferry, no surprise passengers either 🐑😂
Just what you need at the end of a long journey, to ride through a city centre 🤦🏼‍♀️ was it easier because you have been there before, even though it was walking?

    1. It was much easier to ride certain parts as I’ve walked around the harbour before ☺️ I’ve also seen some of the roads from the Fløyen mountain webcam, so being on the roads I’ve only seen in pictures was pretty cool ☺️

Shame you missed the ferries. I guess it’s not easy to time what time you will get there.

    1. True. And also I paid no attention to what the ferry schedules were. Even though I wrote them down before I left the UK 😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
