Waking up in Bremen felt a bit surreal. I don’t think my head has caught up with the fact that this trip is actually happening 😂

I’d planned to see a bit of Bremen before heading north. I needed to grab some fuel; last night, as it was pretty late, I broke the biking advice of filling up on the night before. I found a petrol station on my phone map, and set off this morning. Both of my payment cards were declined and it was an unmanned station. So I set off to a different one about ten minutes away.
Half a mile from the second station, the road was blocked by police. So I took a different route. I did manage to get fuel and spoke a little German to the lady serving. However, this little trip had used up nearly an hour. Joy.
I was determined to check out Highlander Games on the edge of the city. On the way, a guy riding an almost identical bike to me stopped for a brief chat. That was very cool. There go any ideas of me being unique and interesting 😂

Highlander Games is an absolute gem of a shop. So many fabulous games to choose from. I was really short on time but managed to have a chat with a guy who works there, (Reforest sounded really interesting from his recommendations) and I picked up a little game. Space is really at a premium on the bike!
From Bremen I set off north, via Hamburg towards the ferry to Denmark.
Riding through a busy town centre I was sat at traffic lights. A big yellow DHL van pulls up on my right hand side and the driver says “What’s happening man?” as he looks at the bike. “You’re from UK?” …”Yeah”….”Where you going?”…I tell him the places…. “Oh cool!”…then the traffic starts moving and we go our separate ways.
I did a little pit stop on the A1 near Lengenbostel for a quick loo stop, drink and a triple cheese bagel. It turns out that three cheeses can reach the temperature of the sun when warmed for a few minutes. It was tasty though.

Mouth in tatters, I carried on the ride. The weather was warm and dry, absolutely perfect.
At just before 5pm I arrived at the Puttgarden ferry. It’s about half an hour over to Denmark, and if you pre-book the tickets are cheaper 😊 Glad I did that last night 😊

At 7pm it was pretty dark and I arrived at my accommodation in Guldborg. It’s a tiny town in Denmark. I’m looking forward to seeing it in the daylight tomorrow.
Thanks for reading Day 3! I’ve covered 323km today…with a total of 1,244km (or 773 miles) since the trip started.
