Day 4 – We don’t mention the “r” word

Drip, drip, drop little….October showers….that sounds pretty quaint and lovely. However, good ol’ fashioned rain wasn’t the ideal weather for the morning. The wander around the woodland dropped off the agenda, though I did have a quick look. It looked stunning.

The tiny town on the tree stump was very cool. And both photo’s make it look much drier than it actually was!

I loaded up the bike, and headed off to Copenhagen in what felt like some sort of hydromatic water experiment.

I had done a quick weather check and knew I was in for a rinse cycle. The rain cloud covered my entire route of the day 😂

In times like that you become super aware of any water inside your bike gear. I felt two noticeable drops on my left hand chest. This turned out to be a leak…which over the course of the Copenhagen trip soaked my left side. But other than that things kept mostly dry. Oh. And my feet started to get a bit wet. But apart from that…all good 😂

The place I found to eat in Copenhagen was lovely. Flindt & Orsted in Ørstedsparken.

One hot chocolate and mushrooms on toast was just the ticket. My photo is rubbish…the food was delicious. The service was fab too.

I had a very quick wander in the park and happened upon a relaxed gent in statue form. Just don’t look at his shiny bits 😂

You looked, didn’t you? 😂

Then I headed to the Öredsundsbron crossing to Sweden. It’s a combination of tunnel….then bridge. It’s very impressive. And yes, the toll is payable both ways. I’m just doing a one-way crossing this trip.

A quick fuel stop once over the bridge, which turned into a longer one because my credit card was playing up again (yay)…turned into changing both headlight bulbs. One had blown yesterday, but the other was fine. But, upon changing the faulty one, the other decided to fail 😂 It obviously felt left out 😂

With a fresh set of beams I headed further north. This was now in Samwise Gamgee territory “If I take another step it’s the furthest I’ve ridden from home”. Up to now the furthest I’ve driven (by car) was Mälmo. I was now further than that ☺️

In Sweden it was intermittently rainy and windy. A fun combination 😂 The forest scenery was very welcome, as was the short glimpse of the sea along part of the route.

I quite like this photo of approaching a tunnel, where it looks like I’ve engaged the hyperspace drive 😂

Happily the last couple of hours were quite dry, so my suit dried out as I got to Gothenburg. My gloves and boots were still soaked 😂

So today, 477km (297 miles) bringing our total to 1,721km (1,069 miles).

Thank you for reading about the rainy day! ☺️💛
