Pronounced “oh-la-sun” it’s a port town on the West coast of Norway.
A short walk from our accommodation is a hillside path, Fjellstua. This is 418 steps up to a hilltop view. We checked at the local tourist information to see if there was a café at the top. “There is, yes” was the reply. Smashing. Off we go!

The pathway features other objects of interest on the way including this sculpture titled Genes.

And this tree sculpture. I think it was surprised at the amount of steps too 😂

Further we go. With occasional steps being marked with the step number, just to numerically remind you of your progress (or questionable life decisions 😂).
The view from the top is worth the trip. And with a little bit of exertion a café visit was just in order. Plot twist here dear reader, the cafe is closed. Possibly for maintenance, or some other reason, but closed it was. Seemingly that status hadn’t reached the tourist information office 😂

Back into the town and sustenance was found. Phew!
More wandering around the town. Beyond the tourist shops are lovely waterside buildings and even a viking longboat. The weather really made the surroundings look particularly fantastic.

Further out towards the sea is the Molja Fyr lighthouse. This delightfully proportioned structure now doubles as a rentable hotel room.

And a little wildlife encounter…a hummingbird moth feeding on some lavender! ☺️

Today was 4.53 miles of walking. Luckily my legs still worked after nearly 2,000 miles and eight different countries in seven days on the motorbike 😂

Thanks for reading about Day 8! Tomorrow is expected to include a visit to the Atlanterhavsparken aquarium ☺️ I’ll try to not include too many fish puns, I wouldn’t want to give you a haddock 😉😂
